Following a national trend to place
health care services in the retail sector of communities, Woods Supermarket and Mercy Health
Center are teaming up to offer another health care option for area residents called Mercy
Quick Care. The health clinic, which opened last November, is located just inside the
south entrance to Woods Supermarket in Fort Scott.
The new clinic sees patients for less severe forms of ailments than are seen in the
recently opened Urgent Care @Mercy. The clinic also offers well checks.
“This is an option for individuals who have minor health concerns that can be addressed
without a visit to urgent care or the emergency department,” John Woodrich, president and
CEO of Mercy Health System of Kansas. “Combined with the pharmacy at Woods, this partnership
further enhances access to health care services in our community.”
Remodeling has been completed for the clinic which is situated in the southeast corner of
the store. The clinic is staffed by nurse practitioners.
There is a set of diagnoses posted adjacent to the entry to the clinic under the general
headings of Infections/rashes/insect bits, Ear/eye/head, Respiratory conditions, and Digestive.
Individuals may also stop by the clinic for well checks that include cholesterol and glucose
screenings, as well as blood pressure checks.
The fee for a normal office visit is $55. A well check ranges from $5 for blood pressure
checks to $20 for screenings.
