Spirit Event to Replicate "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader"
Mercy Health Center announces
the third Spirit of Women event in 2008 for area women coming up Thursday, April 17,
at 6:30 p.m.. Once again, organizers are challenging women to become knowledgeable
about their health through this health-u-tainment event called “Get Stronger, Get
Smarter” or “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader”.

Nurse Practitioners Lead Urgent Care at Mercy
John Woodrich, president and CEO of
Mercy Health System of Kansas, welcomes advanced registered nurse practitioners Donna
Dewey and Lynieta Leisure as the providers for the new Urgent Care at Mercy.
The center, which opened Sept. 4, sees on the average of 30 patients daily
for minor illnesses and injuries ranging from minor respiratory infections,
sprains and strains, minor lacerations, insect bits and rashes, and suture

Mercy Quick Care and Woods Supermarket Team Up
Following a national trend to place
health care services in the retail sector of communities, Woods Supermarket and Mercy Health
Center are teaming up to offer another health care option for area residents called Mercy
Quick Care. The health clinic, which opened last November, is located just inside the
south entrance to Woods Supermarket in Fort Scott. More
Mercy Opens Sleep Lab
Mercy Health Center is now
equipped to ensure that local residents receive a better quality of sleep leaving
them rested and ready to face the day. Mercy’s new addition, the Mercy
Health Center sleep lab, is now ready to see patients, according to Emily
Turner, director of cardio pulmonary and sleep medicine. More
Dr. Jay Allen to Server Linn County Full-Time
Dr. Jay Allen, a long-time
family practitioner with Mercy Physician Group, is expanding his practice in
Linn County. Dr. Allen is now seeing patients at the Pleasanton Family Practice
on a full-time basis.
Dr. Allen has cared for patients at the clinic in the past on a part-time schedule.
With the increased growth that the clinic is experiencing, he made the decision to
devote more time serving residents of the region. More
