Anatomical Pathology

Anatomical pathology is the study of organs and tissues to determine the causes and effects of particular diseases. Today, with advanced technology, a tissue specimen can be obtained from almost any organ or any part of the body using various biopsy techniques. Biopsies can also be taken during surgery or during an autopsy (an after-death examination).

There are many different divisions of anatomical pathology. Listed in the directory below are some, for which we have provided a brief overview.

If you cannot find the information in which you are interested, please visit the Pathology Online Resources page in this Web site for an Internet/World Wide Web address that may contain additional information on that topic.
